How to Cook Dagaa (Fried Fish) at Home Step by Step Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 piece of garlic

  • ½ lb dagaa (dried fish)

  • ½ juice of lemon

  • 1 tomato

  • 1–2 onions

  • 2 tablespoons red palm oil

  • 2 cups of water

  • 1 coconut and 1 tbsp groundnut oil

  • 1 red pepper (optional)

  • Salt to taste

Methods

  • Fry the dagaa without oil until it turns golden brown.

  • Place between the palms of your hands to remove loose scales and sand.

  • Wash thoroughly.

  • Cut the tomato, onion and red pepper into small neat pieces.

  • Put 2 cups of water into a pan.

  • Add the onion, tomato, pepper, palm oil and salt.

  • When the water starts to boil, add the dagaa.

  • Continue cooking slowly until very little liquid is left. Avoid stirring too much to prevent the dagaa from breaking.

  • Serve with ugali, potatoes or mashed bananas.
