6 oz flaky pastry

2 oz self-raising flour

2 oz butter

2 oz almonds (blanched and chopped)

2 oz sugar

1 oz golden syrup

1 egg (beaten)

A little milk
Methods

Roll out flaky pastry to â…› inch thickness and cut into rounds using a large fluted cutter.

Line patty tins with pastry rounds.

Mix chopped almonds and golden syrup together and place a little in each pastry case.

Cream butter and sugar until light.

Add beaten egg and a little milk if necessary.

Place a dessertspoonful of the mixture over the almond in each pastry case.

Bake in a hot oven for 15 minutes.

NOTE: A few drops of almond essence may be added to the cake mixture.
