Ingredients

2 warm boiled potatoes

1 level teaspoon turmeric

½ green chilli, chopped

1 pinch chilli powder

1 teaspoon chopped coriander or parsley leaves

Juice of ½ lemon

Fat for deep frying

1 level teaspoon salt

For batter: 1 tablespoon gram flour, water to make a thick paste, 1 pinch salt
Methods

Peel and mash the potatoes.

Add all the spices and lemon juice to the potatoes and mix well.

Form balls from this mixture.

Heat the pan with fat.

Prepare the batter: mix gram flour, salt and water into a paste.

Turn the balls in the batter and fry in deep fat until golden brown.

Serve hot or cold with coconut chutney for lunch, supper or at buffet parties.
