How to Make Brown Sauce at Home Step by Step Recipe

Ingredients

  • 200g chicken

  • 50g mushrooms and green pepper

  • Onion

  • Pepper and salt

  • Small amount of garlic (sliced)

  • ½ ml stock

  • ½ teaspoon gravy browning or meat extract

Methods

  • Heat the dripping and fry the onion and carrot until light brown.

  • Add the flour and continue frying.

  • Add the stock and stir well. Simmer for two minutes and strain the sauce.

  • Season to taste and add gravy browning or meat extract for more flavour.

  • NOTE: When frying the flour, extra colour may be given by adding a small piece of brown onion. If this is done, the gravy browning may be omitted.
