How to Make Butter Biscuits at Home Step by Step Recipe

Ingredients

  • 4 oz butter

  • 3 oz castor sugar

  • 1 medium-sized egg

  • 6 oz plain flour

  • Flavourings: vanilla, almond essence, grated lemon

  • Glacé cherries, citron peel or pineapple for decoration

Methods

  • Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

  • Beat in the egg gradually.

  • Add the flavouring and fold in the sifted flour.

  • Place the mixture in a large forcing bag with a large star nozzle.

  • Pipe onto a greased baking tray. Alternatively, roll with floured hands into small balls and flatten.

  • Place a piece of glacé cherry, pineapple or citron peel on each centre.

  • Bake in a slow oven for 10–15 minutes to a pale biscuit colour. Makes 30–36 biscuits.
