How to Make Chelsea Buns at Home Step by Step Recipe

(serves 4 people)

Ingredients

  • 250g wheat flour

  • 50g margarine

  • 125ml milk or water

  • 2g salt

  • 2g yeast

  • 25g raisins

  • 56g sugar

Methods

  • Grease a baking tin.

  • Sieve the flour with sugar, yeast and salt into a bowl and rub with 20g of margarine.

  • Pour warm milk into the flour and mix well.

  • Knead the dough until smooth and elastic.

  • Cover with a damp cloth and leave in a warm place.

  • When doubled in size, re-knead and prove for 20 minutes.

  • Roll the dough, brush with 30g of fat and add raisins mixed with caster sugar.

  • Roll up as for Swiss roll and cut into thick slices.

  • Place close together in a greased baking tin.

  • Prove for 15 minutes and bake in a pre-heated oven at 150–170°C for 15–20 minutes.

  • Serve on a plate.
