250g wholemeal flour

2ml vanilla essence

3g salt

120ml milk

7g baking powder

120g butter or margarine

45g wheat flour

120g caster sugar
Methods

Pre-heat the oven to 130°C.

Grease a baking tray.

Sieve the wheat flour and baking powder into a bowl. Add salt and sugar and mix well. Sieve the wholemeal flour separately and mix with the flour mixture.

Rub the butter or margarine into the mixture until it resembles breadcrumbs.

Add milk and knead to obtain a stiff dough.

Roll out thinly and cut into desired shapes using a medium-sized biscuit cutter. Prick them.

Place on the greased baking tray and bake at 150°C for 20–30 minutes until golden brown. Remove and cool.

Serve as required.
