Ingredients

½ kg flour

¼ kg sugar

1½ teaspoons bicarbonate of soda

2 pinches of salt

1 level tsp baking powder
Methods

Sieve flour, baking powder and bicarbonate of soda into a mixing bowl.

Melt the oil and make a well in the centre, then add the hot oil.

Mix the oil with the flour using a wooden spoon.

Add milk or water if necessary and knead by hand.

Roll out like a pastry bread and cut into desired sizes.

Fry in deep oil until golden brown.

Drain on kitchen paper or brown paper to remove excess fat.
