How to Make Kande at Home Step by Step Recipe

Ingredients

  • 250g dehulled maize

  • 150g beans

  • 1 tomato

  • 100ml cooking oil

  • 1 carrot

  • 1 green pepper

  • 1 onion

  • 2g salt

  • Water

  • 5g curry powder or turmeric (optional)

  • 250ml coconut milk or 100g ground groundnuts (optional)

Methods

  • Wash the maize and bring to the boil until almost tender. Add washed beans and continue boiling until fully cooked and soft.

  • Peel and slice the onions and carrots.

  • Heat the cooking oil and fry the onion until light brown. Add carrot, salt and spices.

  • Add the bean and maize mixture and stir well. Leave to boil for a while.

  • Add coconut milk or ground groundnuts while stirring occasionally. Simmer until the liquid is nearly dry but leaves enough stew.

  • Serve on a plate and garnish with sliced tomato and green pepper or any suitable garnish.
