How to Make Kitawa at Home Step by Step Recipe

Ingredients

  • 3 small soft cooking bananas (such as kigome or vitoke)

  • A little lemon juice if desired

  • ½ pt (¼ lt) thick sour milk or yoghurt

  • A pinch of salt

Methods

  • Peel bananas and split them lengthwise. Remove the inner pith, then cut across twice.

  • Wash the pieces and put to boil. Add salt.

  • When tender, drain the water and mash bananas thoroughly while still hot.

  • Stir in milk a little at a time until all has been added.

  • Whisk until smooth. Add lemon juice if desired.

  • Serve cold for children and the elderly.
