4 oz flour

1 rounded teaspoon baking powder

1 oz sugar

1 pinch of salt

1 egg

Water to mix into a soft dough
Methods

Sift the flour and baking powder together into a mixing basin.

Add the sugar.

Beat the egg well and add ¼ cup of water.

Add the egg mixture to the flour and mix into a soft dough. Add more water if necessary.

Knead the dough thoroughly until smooth and clean from the hands and basin.

Cover with a towel and leave to rise for about ½ an hour in a warm place.

When risen, roll out on a floured board to about ½ inch thickness.

Cut into squares or triangles.

Fry in deep fat until golden brown.

Drain on kitchen paper or brown paper to remove surplus fat.
