Ingredients

250g minced meat

1 teaspoon cooking oil

2 large onions, chopped

2 chillies, chopped (optional)

125ml stock

2 large potatoes (boiled and mashed)

1 beaten egg

Methods

Heat the cooking oil and fry the onions until light brown. Add the chillies if used.

Add the stock, minced meat, pepper and salt.

Cook over gentle heat until the water evaporates.

Place the mixture in a buttered baking dish.

Mix the beaten egg (setting aside a little for brushing) with the mashed potatoes.

Pile the potatoes on top of the meat in the dish and press down with a fork.

NOTE: Tinned meat may be used if preferred. Leftover roast beef or mutton can also be used. Milk may be used for brushing instead of egg.
